Cuphead DLC - The Loop
The Tori Tori no Mi, Model: Phoenix (Bird-Bird Fruit) is a Mythical Zoan-type Devil Fruit which bestows the power to transform into a phoenix (and phoenix hybrid) at will.
This fruit has been confirmed for a rework by the devs, specifically Benere.
The model looks like a glowing blue and orange fruit, with feather-like leaves. It was also the first animated devil fruit model with the second one being Mochi.
It's not a damage-based fruit, since almost all the moves are more utility-based, thus making it fall short for a fruit-main user. However, the utility moves may really useful in almost every context, making it an amazing support fruit.
The Tori Tori no Mi was the first Mythical fruit added to the game, as of Update 5, however, a new fruit of this rarity has been added, that being the Mochi Mochi no Mi.
Moveset [ ]
Keybind | Move Name | Visual Showcase | Requirements | Stamina | Description |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
E | Phoenix Talons | ![]() | 10 Devil Fruit Mastery | 0 Stamina | The user turns their feet into phoenix talons. They can be used as M1 Damage that scales off of Sword Mastery and deals DoT (Damage over Time). For each DoT hit, the user heals a % of it. Base DMG of Talons is 8 + burn damage. Cooldown: 0 seconds |
R | Half Phoenix Form | ![]() | 30 Devil Fruit Mastery | ~0.41% Stamina per 0.5 sec | The user performs a leap into the air turning themselves into a flying half-form phoenix. Drains a percentage of stamina over time. This move is easily overshadowed by the Full Form transformation. |
T | Flames of Rejuvenation | ![]() | 40 Devil Fruit Mastery | Incredibly high amount at a fast rate | Toggles flames that heal slowly. Can be used in base form. The heal scales off Devil Fruit Mastery but drains a lot of stamina. While in Half Form, it turns into a small-sized sphere that better heals the user and also heals party members. In Full Form, the effect becomes larger and greatly increases the regeneration rate. Cooldown: 4 seconds. the more party members there are in the sphere the more stamina it drains |
Z | Phoenix Burst | ![]() | 60 Devil Fruit Mastery | 45 | The user puts their wings back, then waves it forward shooting a damaging blue fireball that applies burn damage. While in Half Form it only shoots one fireball, in Full Form it will shoot 3. This move can only be used in a transformation and is blockable. Cooldown: 6 seconds (10 seconds in arena/dungeon) |
X | Full Phoenix Form | ![]() | 80 Devil Fruit Mastery | ~0.55 per 0.5 sec | The user becomes a large blue phoenix that has the ability to fly, and heal more efficiently. The player can block attacks in this form by holding F, even if they're flying. Drains a percentage of the stamina, like the Half Form. |
C | Starburst Stream | ![]() | 120 Devil Fruit Mastery | 40-120 Stamina | The user locks into the opponent hovered by their cursor and strikes them several times, dealing a massive block-breaking damage. The move can be charged up or used quickly. It can also hit multiple targets. The last hit knockbacks the opponent. This move can only be used while in a transformation. |
Pros [ ]
- Fairly short cooldowns.
- Passive burn that heals (somewhat minor but good).
- Strong survivability and sustain due to heal.
- Great for boss fights (due to healing and high DPS).
- Transforming into half form is a way to get out of combos.
- Decent travel, sadly worse than both Pika and Ito.
- Easy to gets out of the water with half/full phoenix form.
- It is one of two Mythical fruit in-game, the other one being Mochi, making both extremely valuable in the trading community,
- One of the best dungeon farming fruits.
- Fruit with highest DPS on the game.
- The Tori Tori no Mi doesn't have a damage cap.
Cons [ ]
- Incredibly high Stamina costs.
- Large hitbox in form can get you killed easily.
- There is no way to increase time in either form due to the % stamina drain. (Although it can be mitigated partially by using stamina regen items.)
- Running out of stamina can be an almost immediate death since you don't really have any spacing at all.
- Small amount of offensive abilities.
- Lack of block-breaker moves (the only one is the Ultimate).
- The Ultimate usually doesn't work and fails to hit.
- Moves like Mera's X move, Flame Pillar are able to land all hits against someone in full phoenix form.
Tips & Tricks [ ]
- Half Phoenix form can be used to escape some combos as the leap into the air can't be canceled.
- Half Phoenix form has a common bug where the user will perform the leap, emit particles, but won't enter half form.
- Despite having a bigger model, the hitbox is the same size (You're still a bigger target for attacks, don't get it mistaken).
- While using Starburst Stream the player can cancel out of phoenix form to save Stamina. It will continue to use the move in regular human form.
- Increasing the stamina stat will not increase the time the user can be transformed, as forms drain a percentage of stamina.
- All stamina draining moves half of the stamina regeneration, like Demon Step.
- Both transformation moves use ~0.7% stamina per second and subsequently last 110 seconds each.
- Phoenix Burst has a bug where the attack will not damage, knockback, or add blue flames to things directly hit by the blast.
- When using the Ultimate the player can turn off full form and turn on again, using Phoenix Burst right after (damage stacks).
- This fruit can solo Dungeons by using half form then stay at the center fly up then use Phoenix Burst to clear all the enemy below, at the wave 20 if other map kill Pika first if Skypiea map just go to the golden temple.
- Full Phoenix Form flies at a rate of 105 studs per second (faster than Mera + Striker).
- A good way to counter the high stamina drain from the forms is having a build with low stamina points and high stamina regen (by using items), since you don't have to worry about hp regen when you can use your stamina to heal yourself with the Flames of Rejuvenation;
Trivia [ ]
- The ultimate's name may be based off of Kirito's move in Sword Art Online.
Damage Calculations [ ]
These may help the player understand how to make their ideal stat build. The Tori Tori no Mi doesn't appear to have a damage cap. Keep in mind the lack of a damage cap doesn't exactly justify dumping too many points into the fruit alone.
All the math was made by EvilDrewdanger ( / drewdanger#2904 ) and some other helpers. The player may find the original here. For other fruits/swords, they may find them here. Those were last updated on Update 4.41.
